The 2011 San Juan County Dance Partnership Showcase was a great success. Thank-you to all who participated.
Look for more info on next year's show...
Honor, help, and hope for the cancer patients we love.
All proceeds will benefit the Cathy Lincoln Memorial Cancer Fund, C/O
the San Juan Medical Foundation. San Juan County Dance Studios &
High School Dance Teams will unite with one purpose as they use their
gifts and abilities to bring a variety of dance styles providing an
evening of entertainment on May 23, 2011, at the Farmington Civic
Center.
The objective is for participating teams to encourage,
strengthen and support local cancer patients and their families as they
join together and share their talents.
Teams will not only have the
opportunity to dance in Honor of loved ones, but they may choose to
dedicate a dance to a cancer patient, and can submit pictures to be
displayed during the showcase as well.
This community wide benefit
will bring Hope to patients and families as they are made aware of the
many services available to those battling cancer in our area. San Juan
County residents are fortunate to live in a community where a variety
of assistance is provided to those combating cancer. Service providers
will be invited to host booths in the lobby at the showcase.
Finally,
our goal is to Help raise funds for cancer patients in need of
financial aid for cancer-related medical treatment. Dance teams will be
challenged to raise sponsorship money and to sell tickets to the
showcase.
FINANCIAL NEEDS:
Grant money will be used for
expenses related to the production of this Showcase including venue
rental fees for the Farmington Civic Center; printing costs for
tickets, promotional posters, programs; and advertising in our local
newspaper.
IMPORTANCE:
As the SJC Dance Partnership Showcase
brings Honor, Hope and Help, it will have an ongoing impact in our
community in many ways. My mother has been fighting cancer since 2007,
and when her insurance company ceased payment for prescriptions last
year, she received prescription funds with the help of the Cathy
Lincoln Memorial foundation. The finances raised through this outreach
will help this organization to continue to assist cancer patients in
our community. Additionally, this showcase will serve as an outlet for
dancers to express themselves by turning their grief and pain into
action for good. Finally, this event will serve as a medium for young
people to join in one accord with a spirit of cooperation, to bring
Honor, Hope and Help resulting in long-lasting life changes in our
community.
